Counseling Courses

Counseling 50/CAREER ORIENTATION (1 unit)
     This course is designed for an in-depth exploration of Fullerton College resources and policies.  The course will familiarize students with the system of higher education, graduation, and transfer requirements.  Satisfies the California Community College Matriculation requirements of assessment, orientation, and counseling/advising. 

Counseling 60/ACADEMIC SUCCESS  (1 unit)
    
A concise practical course presenting concepts and strategies for student success in college.  Topics include: time management, goal setting, memory, reading, note taking, and college resources.  

Counseling 63/SELF-ESTEEM: PATHWAY TO SUCCESS  (1 unit)
     This course promotes the development of positive self-image.  Topics may include awareness and perception, behavior, communication, personality, stress management, motivation, and success.

 

Counseling 92AB/Work Experience-General (1-3 units)

Course is designed to provide instruction and general advisement related to actual work experience.  For the employed student who has either not yet declared a major or whose employment and major are not related.

 

Counseling 98/Student Services Tutorial Laboratory (.5-1 units)

This course provides tutorial assistance in Math and English, as well as other subjects.  Students will receive guided instruction to improve study strategies, and basic Math/English skills to enhance their success in those courses.

 

Counseling 101/The College Experience (2 Units)

This course facilitates understanding of the human being as it relates to academic success.  Topics include; self-exploration as it relates to personal/academic success; awareness of higher education; development of academic/survival skills; and transfer/vocational exploration.

Counseling 141/Career Exploration (1 Unit)

Introduction to a career decision-making process including self-evaluation and world of work.  Values, interests, skills, personality/temperament, and goals are related to appropriate and realistic occupational and career choices.

Counseling 151/Career/Life Planning (3 Units)

For students who are undecided about their major or in career transition.  An in depth analysis of values, interests, abilities and personality; includes goal setting, career research and job search techniques.

Counseling 299ABC/EOPS Independent Study (1 Unit)

Designed for students who wish to extend their knowledge in human services related topics.  Provides student with guidance in the selection of a research topic and assist in the development of a research paper.
